We at the National Trauma Institute don't actually do the research--we fund the research and report on research being done to advance trauma care, so unfortunately, I don't know the answer to your question. You might try the Mayo Clinic.

My friends 7 month old girl was just diagnosed with Morning Glory Syndrome. Is there any research , or surgeries being done about optic nerve regeneration or re-connection? We are in the Cincinnati, Ohio area.
Who are the most renowned and successful specialists in this field? I have heard about omega 3 fish oils being used for eye conditions, is there any merit to this?

We all wish that lawmakers would be more circumspect in their dolling out of federal money; unfortunately, that is often the only way really urgent issues can be addressed at the federal level. With no attention paid specifically to trauma within HHS, this is the only avenue open to NTI at the moment.

Obama didn't deliver on his promise to decrease earmarks, so I'm glad the Congress is addressing. Earmarks need to be eliminated entirely, and a bill needs to be brought to the floor to eliminate earmarks, so the taxpayers can see who votes to eliminate and who doesn't. That will help determine who keeps their job and who doesn't!

As a former USAF Flight Surgeon '74-78--I was inspired by the research on accidental hypothermia and invented the world's fastest, safest and most effective Therapeutic Hypothermia (TH) induction system: the ThermoSuit System. Please check out our company's website: www.life-recovery.com I also have a significant amount of clinical experience in TH as a practicing interventional cardiologist and would be happy to share this perspective with you all. Please feel free to contact me if interested.
